Annual message, Christmas, 2002

Season's greetings from Ottawa, in 2002!

From Eleanor & Wayne Paulson

To: One and all . . .

2002 has been a good year for us. We are both healthy, and enjoy life.

We spent a very pleasant September taking two trips in Eleanor's beloved little classic red roadster. The first trip was to a classic car weekend in Auburn, Indiana, where the Cords, Auburns, and Duesenbergs were made, circa 1930. Our second trip  was to West Virginia and the Blue Ridge mountain area of Virginia, visiting friends in both areas. We had nearly perfect weather for both trips, enjoying the top down on the car as we drove through the gently rolling hills of the Amish area of southern Pennsylvania. We clocked about 3,500 miles in total. Of course, that car is now in hibernation for the Winter. It's deathly afraid of snowflakes!

I photographed an Amish farm from near our motel in Lancaster, PA. No need for electric power there! . . .

Wayne has been too busy -- as usual! -- on his PC, scouring the Web, and such. A phone call from out of the blue from a friend in physics M.Sc. days at Queen's University in Kingston arrived by e-mail from Prof. xxxxxx of India, visiting for a few months with his wife and their son and his wife, in Colorado. That prompted Wayne to add a sub-site to his Web site for ease of sharing memories and photos of Queen's Physics staff and alumni.

Wayne has also been up to his fractal doodling again, using his ConjurePicture program to generate images using iterated function systems. From that comes this little image for you, which we hope helps to inspire good thoughts for the season. . . .

We wish you a ~ Merry Christmas ~ and a ~ Happy new year ~ !

Et un Joyeux Noël, y una Feliz Navidad !
